Cystectomy

A Cystectomy is a surgical procedure to remove the bladder partly or wholly, or to remove a cyst. Cystectomy is commonly used for treatment of bladder cancer. Cystectomy is classified as:

  • Radical Cystectomy: Which involves the removal the entire bladder, the lymph nodes, part of the urethra, and nearby organs that may host cancer cells.
  • Partial Cystectomy: Wherein a part of the bladder is removed.

Cystectomy can also be performed in two ways: Open Cystectomy and Minimally Invasive Cystectomy.
