Varicocele Repair Surgery

A pouch-like sac of skin that holds and protects the testicles and other male reproductive organs is referred to as Scrotum.  A condition where the veins in the scrotum become enlarged and swollen is known as varicocele. The varicocele effects the male infertility, pain, and impaired testosterone production. Varicocele repair surgery is a procedure that treats a varicocele, which is a swelling of veins in the scrotum. The surgery involves blocking the blood flow in the veins to reduce pain and improve fertility. There are several types of varicocele repair surgery, including:

Microscopic Varicocelectomy: A Microscopic varicocelectomy (micro varicocele surgery) is the procedure to seal off the affected vein and redirect blood flow to other healthy veins, wherein a high-powered operating microscope is used to perform the microsurgical varicocelectomy. A surgeon makes a small incision above the scrotum and uses a microscope to tie off the veins. A small incision is made above the scrotum and uses a microscope to tie off the veins. The procedure is carried out either under a general or a local anesthesia.

Laparoscopic Varicocelectomy: A surgeon uses a camera and small instruments inserted through incisions in the abdomen to clip the veins. This procedure is usually shorter, taking about 30–40 minutes, and patients can go home the same day.

Varicocele Embolization: The veins feeding the varicocele are blocked using small coils that are inserted through a vein in the groin.
